Business Architect
Overview
We’re looking for a Business Architect to support the delivery of business architecture across a large-scale, complex transformation programme.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders to shape business operating models, define requirements, and ensure successful delivery of solutions. You'll remain engaged throughout the lifecycle to manage change, validate outcomes, and support implementation.
Experience in IT infrastructure or large-scale programmes is highly desirable.
Operating Environment
* Part of the Business Architecture function reporting into the CIO
* Supports delivery across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
* Responsible for diagnosing, scoping, and delivering a pipeline of work
* Works closely with a Business Architecture Lead to ensure alignment and progress
Key Responsibilities
* Engage stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, risks, and dependencies
* Capture, challenge, and prioritise business requirements
* Collaborate with delivery teams and third-party partners to identify solution options
* Develop investment cases and articulate clear, measurable business benefits
* Act as the custodian of business requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle
* Support continuous improvement using best practice methods and emerging trends
* Lead business acceptance activities (e.g. walkthroughs, testing)
* Ensure adherence to delivery governance and assurance principles
Delivery Scope
* Work independently or as part of wider project teams
* Collaborate with architects, delivery teams, and external partners
* Lead early project phases, including shaping solutions and preparing proposals
* Support transition into delivery planning and execution
* Provide oversight and quality assurance of deliverables where required
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Strong experience delivering business architecture change in complex environments
* Excellent business process analysis and design skills
* Familiarity with modelling tools and structured analysis techniques
* Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
* Ability to influence, negotiate, and manage conflicting priorities
Team & Structure
* Reports to a Business Architecture Lead
* Works within a team of Business Architects
* Aligned to core delivery areas such as engineering, construction, and business services
Working Pattern
Hybrid working model with a mix of remote and office-based collaboration depending on project requirements.
