We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Foundry Operator to join our growing team. This will be working on our evening shift where the working hours are Monday-Thursday 1:30pm-10pm and Friday 1:30pm-8pm. Position Summary: The Foundry Sand Core Setter/Operator is responsible for the preparation, assembly, and installation of sand cores used in the brass casting process. This role involves setting up core boxes, operating core-making machines, inspecting cores for quality, and ensuring correct placement in moulds to support consistent, defect-free castings. Key Responsibilities: Core Making & Setting Operate core-making machines to produce sand cores to specification. Prepare and assemble core boxes, ensuring correct alignment and application of release agents. Quality & Inspection Visually inspect sand cores for cracks, voids, or defects. Verify core dimensions and surface finish meet required standards. Maintain consistent production quality through proper handling and setup techniques. Safety & Housekeeping Adhere to all safety procedures, including PPE, hot material handling, and lifting techniques. Report any hazards, equipment malfunctions, or incidents immediately. Maintain a clean and organised work area, following 5S principles. Tooling & Equipment Maintenance Clean and maintain core boxes, tooling, and related machinery as part of daily routines. Identify worn or damaged tools and report to maintenance or supervision for corrective action. Assist in minor adjustments and routine maintenance tasks as trained. Process Control & Records Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), job cards, and quality checklists. Complete shift logs and report any process deviations or downtime. Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to tooling or methods. Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience in a foundry or casting environment is preferred. Knowledge of sand core production processes and moulding techniques. Familiarity with core-setting tools, lifting aids, and heat exposure precautions. Good attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions. Physically fit for manual handling, standing for extended periods, and working in hot environments. Basic literacy and numeracy; ability to complete production records.
