What's involved with this role: Interim Payroll/Senior Payroll Assistant / Admin Reference no: West Berkshire 5247862 Pay rate: £20.00 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 This opening assignment is for 3-4 months City: NEWBURY, Berkshire An experienced Payroll/Senior Payroll Assistant, with ITrent experience, is required to join the team. To support the Payroll function to ensure smooth operation of the Payroll and Pensions services to the Council (including Members) and Schools. Undertake a wide range of work practices to become proficient across all areas of the Payroll function, including schools, corporate and pensions. To undertake routine administrative and support activities across all Payroll activities as required by email, telephone and face-to-face. Key responsibilities: Responsible for processing, amending, and updating the records for new starters, leavers, and existing employees, corporate and schools, using the Payroll system. Responsible for ensuring that all pay queries and errors are resolved in a timely manner. Calculation and payment of salaries, all allowances, and pay adjustments. Input of large volumes of data, including timesheets, overtime, expenses, sickness, and unpaid leave. Processing emergency payments to the employees using the online banking system. Maintenance of absence records by producing sickness letters informing employees on long-term sickness of reduction of pay and future entitlement, and provision of SSP1 forms. Processing all HMRC forms, such as new starters checklist, tax codes, and student loans changes, and producing P45s for all leavers Support the Payroll Manager with system development and testing of system upgrades. Assisting the Payroll Manager with completion of all statutory pension returns. Completing and processing pension forms such as NEST, TPS and LGPS opting out and opting in forms, final pay calculations, APPs and LGS15C forms, and new starter forms.
