Express Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial leadership and management across multiple projects within the FDIS Central North (England) region. This temporary role (6 months maternity cover) will play a key part in overseeing tendering, subcontract procurement, providing contractual and commercial advice, and ensuring effective cost and risk management during the delivery phase of projects.

Roles & Responsibilities
* Manage a small team of Quantity Surveyors, ensuring accurate tender processes and timely submission of Firm Prices
* Support team performance monitoring during the maternity cover period
* Monitor tender progress across multiple sites
* Prepare and issue formal tender enquiries and run formal tenders on larger projects (£1M+)
* Review, analyse, and recommend subcontractor bids
* Draft, negotiate, and issue subcontract orders in line with company procedures
* Support Elementary Cost Management functions and assist Project Managers
* Attend and contribute to monthly Commercial Meetings
* Ensure compliance with FDIS contract requirements, notices, and procedures
* Assist Project Managers with commercial elements of project delivery
* Work closely with Project Managers, Clients, Subcontractors, and the wider commercial team to ensure clarity and consistency in commercial processes
* Represent the company in commercial negotiations and progress meetings
Skills & Experience
* Proven track record as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor, ideally with team management experience
* Strong understanding of construction contracts
* BPSS security clearance (or ability to meet requirements)
* Experience in tendering, subcontract procurement, and cost management, ideally in a public sector environment
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
* IT literate (MS Office, Excel, contract management systems)
* Relevant Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
* Chartered status (MRICS) desirable but not essential
* Full UK driving licence (role involves regional travel)
