Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of cancer waiting times data in line with national Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) standards.

This role will involve monitoring, validating, and reporting on patient pathways, ensuring that all data entries comply with NHS guidelines and that any potential breaches are accurately recorded and escalated for action.

To transfer knowledge and skills to the clinical and administration teams to support long-term compliance and audit.

The candidate will be expected to deliver highly effective cancer pathways by supporting the work in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Working with clinical and administration teams within the tumour sites to ensure accurate capture of pathway data, identifying areas of improvement, whilst providing accurate information to all parties that will inform decision making.

Provide and receive highly complex information and communicate pathway issues with senior management

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* Validate patient pathways in accordance with the national CWT guidance, ensuring all relevant data points are accurate, complete, and up to date.
* Cross-check data entries for compliance with 31-day, 62-day pathway standards.
* Work closely with clinical teams, cancer navigators, and administrative staff to ensure timely and accurate data entry into systems such as SCR (Somerset Cancer Registry).
* Ensure the timely submission of validated data for internal performance monitoring and external reporting.
* Monitor error reports and action corrections on a weekly basis to prevent end-of-month escalations.
* Provide feedback to teams regarding common data errors and areas for improvement in data capture processes.
* Assisting NBT in achieving cancer performance targets and policy implementation.
* Intense concentration is required on a wide variety of complex issues throughout the day, with a requirement to frequently adapt to changing priorities and re-focus the work of self on new priority areas as defined by the Line Manager.
* Proposes and implements changes in conjunction with the clinical groups which have wider implications and impact beyond own area of activity.
* Ensure team compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
* Develop and implement systems’ guidance and sharing of information for best practice.
* Monitor the quality of teams’ work and take appropriate action to address any areas where standards can be improved.

Work Experience

* Accurate decision making and able to work autonomously
* Previous cancer knowledge and experience
* Ability to be able to report on the Trust’s achievement of all national cancer targets


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

* Ability to interpret and analyse datasets
* Ability to work independently to manage patient pathways to achieve National Targets
* Excellent attention to details
