Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join its busy and supportive team in Windsor. This is an important position within the finance function, offering the opportunity to play a central role in maintaining the firm’s financial accuracy, compliance, and day-to-day efficiency.
About the Role
This role would suit a candidate with strong law firm accounts experience, a solid understanding of legal cashiering processes, and the confidence to work accurately in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is essential.
Responsibilities
Client & Office Account Management
* Maintaining client and office ledgers accurately
* Processing client receipts, payments, and transfers
* Monitoring client account balances and resolving discrepancies
* Ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules
Financial Transactions
* Processing bank transfers, cheques, and electronic payments
* Performing daily banking and posting of receipts
* Handling CHAPS, BACS, and online payments
* Managing billing transfers from client to office account
Reconciliation & Reporting
* Performing monthly bank reconciliations
* Reconciling client and office accounts
* Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
* Producing financial reports for management as required
Billing & Disbursements
* Processing legal bills and invoices
* Managing disbursements and expense payments
* Allocating payments to the correct matters and clients
Compliance & Audit
* Ensuring all financial activity complies with legal accounting regulations
* Maintaining accurate records for internal and external audits
* Assisting with compliance checks and regulatory reporting
Must haves:
* Considerable experience within the legal industry
* Previous experience working in a law firm accounts department
* Strong knowledge of legal accounting rules and client account procedures
* Good understanding of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules
* Experience maintaining client and office ledgers
* Confident processing a range of financial transactions including bank transfers, cheques, electronic payments, CHAPS, BACS, and online payments
* Experience carrying out bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
* Ability to support month-end and year-end financial processes
* Good knowledge of accounting systems and legal practice management software
* Strong Microsoft Excel and general accounting software skills
* Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
