The Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 requires specified authorities to prevent people being drawn into terrorism. The specified authorities are those judged to have a role in protecting vulnerable people and/or our national security: County/District councils, Criminal justice (prisons, probation, young offender institutes), Education, Health & social care, and Police. Statutory guidance has been published setting out the detail for specified authorities on action needed to fulfil responsibilities under the Duty.
The Local Authority is required to run a Channel Panel process. The Channel Panel Social Worker will join the established Channel / Prevent Team. This role is pivotal in safeguarding individuals who may be vulnerable to radicalisation and supporting multi-agency efforts to prevent extremism.
We're looking for an exceptional practitioner to join our Prevent & Contest Team as a Channel Panel Social Worker. You'll lead specialist assessments, develop personalised intervention plans, and work closely with Counter Terrorism Police, health, education and other partners to safeguard those most at risk. In this role you will:
* Hold a focused caseload of individuals vulnerable to radicalisation
* Bring professional curiosity and strong analytical skills to multi-agency decision making
* Shape and deliver tailored interventions that build resilience and reduce vulnerability
* Represent Children's Services at Channel Panel, providing expert safeguarding insight
* Work at the interface of public protection, contextual safeguarding and partnership working
