Electrical Engineering Graduate Opportunities – SSEN Transmission. 2-year programme commencing September 2026. Base locations: Perth, Glasgow. Salary: £34,000 per annum plus benefits.
What you’ll do
Join SSEN Transmission and help shape the energy networks of the future. You will work on cutting edge projects that connect renewable energy, strengthen the grid, and support the UK’s Net Zero goals. You will gain hands-on experience and professional development while contributing to real world projects with impact. As part of your application, you will select the team you would like to join; each team offers opportunities to develop technical skills across our transmission network.
Teams and opportunities
System Engineering and Investment: combines techno-economic modelling with power system and investment engineering to manage capital investment across a project lifecycle. Responsibilities include system analysis to specify requirements, informing engineering designs, interfacing with customers connecting to the network, and ensuring network models are accurate and reliable. Base locations: Glasgow, Perth. Degrees: Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy.
Transmission Network Control: supports safety and system security across the network, enabling upgrades, reinforcements, and maintenance. Offers operational technical expertise and exposure to pioneering projects. Base location: Perth. Degrees: Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Security requirement: candidates must obtain SC level vetting (normally 5 years UK residency).
What you’ll need
Minimum of a 2:2 bachelor’s degree in one of the listed disciplines. We are looking for graduates with practical experience and a genuine interest in the energy sector, ability to work in a team, and a track record of setting and achieving ambitious targets.
Recruitment process: Online Testing, Video Interview, and In-Person Assessment Centre. If you meet the minimum criteria, you’ll be invited to complete an online test. If successful, you will be invited to complete an online video interview. If you progress, you will be invited to an Assessment Day (January/February 2026) with attendance confirmed by a given date.
