Mechanical Design Engineer
Annual Salary: Up to £45k, dependent on experience
Location: Witney
Reed Engineering is excited to partner with a leading hydraulics company, specializing in the manufacture of hydraulic cylinders and HPU systems. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who is proactive, hands-on, and possesses a strong background in engineering design, ideally within the hydraulics industry, and ready to oversee both repeat orders and new projects.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Oversee the design process, handling both repeat and new project orders.
* Control the workflow through the department, ensuring all designs meet company standards and client specifications.
* Regularly liaise with customers regarding new and existing product designs.
* Manage, mentor, and train a Trainee Design Engineer, ensuring adherence to best practices in the design office.
* Utilise SolidWorks/3D CAD for designing hydraulic components and their assemblies, ensuring all drawings are maintained according to office guidelines.
* Project manage prototypes and new designs, ensuring correct drawings are issued and all processes are implemented.
* Occasionally visit manufacturers within the UK to present information and help secure or expand business opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, ideally within a related field.
* Proficient in SolidWorks/3D CAD.
* Strong understanding of design protocols and production environment requirements.
* Ability to perform detailed calculations for specifying correct design for production jobs.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills, capable of meeting deadlines.
* A proactive, energetic approach to work with a hands-on attitude.
* Experience in hydraulic pump design is advantageous but not essential.
