Job Description
EducationScape is home to some of education's most respected brands - Schools Week, FE Week, the Festival of Education, and the Apprenticeships and Training Conference. We investigate what matters, inform what works, and inspire what's next across the UK and internationally.
We're growing. We've just launched our new editorial websites, membership offer and EduScape, our new professional community platform for educators, and we're expanding the Festival of Education into new countries. To fuel the next phase of our growth, we're looking for a commercially ambitious Business Development Manager to join us - someone who can open doors, build lasting relationships, and generate serious revenue across our entire portfolio.
The opportunity
This is a genuinely broad commercial role. You'll own new business development across our full portfolio - including recruitment advertising on Schools Week Jobs and FE Week Jobs, display advertising, event sponsorship and exhibition sales for the Festival of Education and ATC, professional development through ESTE, and EduScape memberships.
You'll be joining at an exciting moment. You'll have real autonomy, a clear path to build a team around you, and direct access to senior leadership.
What you'll do:
* Own and build a pipeline of new business clients across recruitment, advertising, events, and professional development
* Lead growth of Schools Week Jobs and FE Week Jobs - securing new annual recruitment clients and expanding existing accounts
* Sell sponsorship and exhibition packages for the Festival of Education, ATC, and international events
* Grow ESTE revenue through training partnerships, bespoke CPD packages, and EduScape memberships
* Develop cross-portfolio solutions that give clients integrated reach across our brands
* Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new commercial opportunities
* Represent EducationScape with credibility and confidence at sector events and senior-level meetings
What we're looking for:
* At least 5 years in a business development, sales, or commercial role with a strong track record of hitting and exceeding targets
* Experience selling across multiple revenue streams - advertising, sponsorship, recruitment, or professional development
* Confident and credible with senior stakeholders - you're comfortable in a room with a CEO of minister.
* Highly organised with a disciplined approach to pipeline management
* Self-motivated and comfortable with autonomy - you don't need to be micromanaged
* Experience in or knowledge of the education sector is a strong advantage, but not essential
Why join us:
* A mission that matters - everything we sell supports independent journalism and professional development in education
* Real autonomy and influence - you'll shape the commercial strategy
* A growing portfolio - new events, new countries, a new platform
* A talented, committed team that cares about quality and doing things properly
* A clear path to build and lead a commercial team as the business grows
EducationScape is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.
