Job overview We are seeking a Ward Manager in SDEC and OPAU for the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) division. We are looking for an individual with excellent management, clinical, and leadership skills to support the workforce in UEC. This role will specifically involve leading and managing the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) and the Older Persons Assessment Unit (OPAU). Acute Medicine is a fast-paced, multi-specialty division with a varied patient demographic. It heavily relies on teamwork with other divisions in the poly-specialty environment of SDEC and OPAU to support the flow of the Emergency Department and the wider Trust. Our goal is to ensure patients are in the right place the first time, with a focus on providing a caring and safe environment. This Ward Manager position seeks a Senior Nurse with significant post-registration qualification experience in Leadership and Staff Management. The post holder will be required to strike an effective balance between management and clinical responsibilities. The post provides the opportunity to lead on patient safety and experience with additional focus on nursing and service development. Providing Clinical Leadership : Offer effective clinical leadership, expertise, advice, and support to clinical teams, ensuring best practices and high-quality care for patients, families, and carers. Ensuring Fit-for-Purpose Staffing :, ensure staffing levels are fit for purpose, including leading the recruitment and retention of staff.
