Job Summary
Children & Young People Specialist Practitioner – full‑time, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, salary £43,609‑49,175, based in Hull, Hull office. The role involves working with children and young people who have been detained in police custody, providing assessments, support and case supervision to reduce inequalities and divert individuals out of the criminal justice system.
Location
Humberside Region, Hull office. Travel may be required across the region as needed.
Main Duties
* Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills within the specialist area of practice, critically appraising, evaluating and applying theoretical frameworks, research evidence and policy.
* Conduct assessments of vulnerable children and young people detained in police custody or referred through wider routes, sharing relevant information to assist and inform the Police, Court and Crown Prosecution Service.
* Provide guidance, support and case supervision to wider non‑custodial practitioners who undertake assessments and planned interventions with CYP within the service.
* Contribute to the development of the non‑custodial CYP pathway by establishing links with local services and agencies, developing referral pathways, and enabling collaborative working with organisations.
Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum of 3 years working with children and young people with complex needs.
* Relevant qualification in youth work, social work, CAMHS or similar specialism.
* Experience providing case oversight or supervision.
* Knowledge of CYP related policies within health and justice contexts.
* Non‑judgmental, compassionate approach.
* Excellent communication and report writing skills.
* Experience working in a trauma‑informed approach.
