Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Durham Secondary Schools Teaching Personnel needs experienced Level 3 TAs for secondary schools across Durham. Full time, long term placements starting ASAP or January 2026. Potential to go permanent if it's the right match. What you'll be doing: Supporting teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4. Running small group interventions (Literacy/English, Numeracy/Maths, subject specific support), providing 1:1 support for students with additional needs, helping manage classroom behaviour, assisting with lesson prep and resources, and working alongside teachers to keep students engaged and progressing. You need: Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent) Secondary school experience Confidence supporting at secondary level Understanding of adolescent development and SEND Good communication skills and team player attitude What's realistic: Secondary TAs deal with different challenges than primary. Students are older, behaviour can be more complex, and you need to build respect quickly. You'll work with students who struggle academically, behaviourally, or both. It's demanding but genuinely rewarding when you connect with a student who's been written off elsewhere.
