About the role As a Transport Shift Manager you will lead a high impact, 24/7 Transport operation as a key strategic leader. You will be responsible and accountable for managing and inspiring a team of First Line Managers, to consistently deliver excellent productivity and customer service while driving operational cost-efficiency. This is a pivotal role where you will shape the future of our transport network, including taking on full RDC management responsibilities during the absence of the General Manager and Transport Operations Manager. Key responsibilities - As a Transport Shift Manager, your number one priority is to inspire and empower your team to create value for our customers and business. Your day to day role responsibilities will include: Managing a 24/7 transport operation that delivers to our branches and customers. Ensuring full compliance with all regulations, including EU driving and working time directives, and health and food safety guidelines. Managing and monitoring our vehicle maintenance program. Controlling departmental resources, including Partners, agency staff, and equipment, to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the department. Managing the RDC (Regional Distribution Centre) when the General Manager and Transport Operations Manager are absent. Essential skills / experience Senior management experience, including leading and coaching other managers in a Transport / Distribution environment Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety and Transport legislation Experience of dealing with full disciplinary procedures according to ACAS guidelines Proven ability of managing senior stakeholders effectively, with experience influencing leaders Desirable skills/experience A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for National qualification with extensive knowledge of current EU regulations.
