Adderley Green Medical Services are looking for additional staff to join our reception team. This is a full-time role, working across our practice sites in the Meir & Longton area.
It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has some flexibility to provide additional cover during periods of holiday or sickness.
We are looking for confident and self-motivated persons, who have excellent communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work well in a sometimes pressurised environment.
We prefer candidates with previous experience in a General Practice setting. On-going training in our practice processes will be provided to suitable candidates. Strong IT skills are required, and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Our clinical system is Emis Web.
Main duties of the job
The role involves receiving, assisting, and navigating patients to access appropriate healthcare services or professionals in a courteous, efficient, and effective manner. You will also provide general administrative and some back-office support to the practice team, projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors, either in person or via telephone.

The duties of the Practice Receptionist Team may include any or all of the following, and duties may vary depending on workload and staffing levels, under the direction of the Practice Management Team or Senior Receptionist:
* Providing an effective and efficient reception service to patients and visitors.
* Handling general enquiries courteously and privately when necessary, explaining procedures, and making appointments.
* Using judgment and communication skills to ensure patients without prior appointments needing urgent consultations are seen appropriately.
* Explaining practice arrangements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring procedures are completed.
* Processing requests for appointments, visits, and consultations via phone, in person, or online, directing callers to the appropriate healthcare professional.
* Taking messages accurately and ensuring prompt delivery.
* Processing tasks, emails, and online messages efficiently.
* Photocopying and scanning documents.
* Processing repeat prescription requests, ensuring they are ready within 48 hours.
* Printing blood forms.
* Advising patients of charges for private services, accepting payments, and issuing receipts.
* Updating and entering patient information into the computer system.
* Inviting patients for screening appointments via telephone or SMS.
* Registering new patients online or via forms.
* Completing necessary forms and processing samples following protocols.
* Dealing with urgent results for GPs and liaising with hospitals as needed.
* Covering for absent colleagues as required.
* Undertaking additional duties as requested by the Partners or Practice Management Team.
* Maintaining confidentiality of patient and practice information at all times.

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education
* GCSE Mathematics C or above
* GCSE English C or above
Experience
* Experience working with the public
