We're looking for a skilled and safety-driven Electrician to deliver high-quality electrical installations, servicing and maintenance across Planned Works, Voids, and Responsive Maintenance (RM) programmes. You'll work in domestic and occupied settings, ensuring all electrical systems meet current IET Wiring Regulations and client specifications. You'll represent CLC with professionalism, diagnosing, repairing, and installing with a first-time-fix mindset and a strong focus on customer care, compliance, and safety.
Responsibilities
* Carry out repairs, maintenance and installations to electrical systems and appliances within domestic and commercial properties.
* Deliver electrical works for voids and planned programmes, including rewires, consumer unit replacements, smoke alarms, fans, shower circuits and general remedials.
* Support responsive repairs, diagnosing faults quickly, ensuring safe isolation and first‑time resolution wherever possible.
* Conduct periodic inspection and testing, completing EICRs and remedial works to regulatory standards.
* Ensure all installations and repairs comply with BS7671 (current IET Wiring Regulations).
* Maintain accurate job information via PDA or mobile device, including certification, materials and time records.
* Communicate effectively with residents, clients and colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery and a positive customer experience.
* Liaise with the Electrical Supervisor on technical issues, material needs and progress updates.
* Carry out risk assessments and maintain safe working practices on all sites.
* Ensure full compliance with company Health & Safety, environmental and equality policies.
* Mentor and support apprentices or junior electricians when required.
* Participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota on a rotational basis.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a qualified Electrician in domestic repairs, maintenance or social housing.
* Fully qualified with NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent City & Guilds qualification.
* 18th Edition (BS7671) certification.
* 2391 (or 2394/2395) Testing & Inspection qualification.
* Additional domestic electrical qualifications covering electric heating systems (panel, storage) and electric cookers and cooking circuits.
* Proven ability to carry out installations, testing and fault diagnosis independently.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including safe isolation and permit‑to‑work systems.
* Confident communicator, able to engage professionally with residents and clients.
* Competent with job management systems and PDA/mobile technology.
* Full, clean UK driving licence.
* Security clearance: Must hold or be immediately eligible for SC clearance and meet/maintain BPSS as a minimum; willing to undergo vetting and periodic renewals.
Desirable
* Experience working in Planned Works, Voids or Responsive Maintenance environments, particularly within social housing or MOD contracts.
* Additional training such as Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height or Manual Handling.
* Experience mentoring apprentices or supporting team development.
* Knowledge of PAS 2035/2038 retrofit and decarbonisation projects.
