Leading international company is looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel to be based in their offices in Edinburgh- this role is primarily remote based with limited time in the office (once a week). As Senior Legal Counsel you will partner with the executive leadership to deliver strategic and commercially focused legal support across a global business. Lead day-to-day legal operations, manage risk in complex regulatory environments, and enable growth through practical, solution-driven legal advice. Responsibilities will include: Commercial Contracts & Business Support Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements including global sales contracts, tenders, supplier agreements and IP licences. Trusted legal partner to Sales, Customer Service and Procurement, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives across multiple jurisdictions. Support revenue-generating activities by structuring legally robust but business-enabling contract solutions. Disputes & External Counsel Management Oversee dispute resolution and litigation matters across the UK and Europe, managing legal risk and resolution strategy. Instruct and manage external counsel, ensuring high-quality specialist advice, strong cost control and best value delivery. Data Protection & Regulatory Compliance Provide legal advice on GDPR and data protection matters, supporting operational compliance and risk mitigation. Advise on competition law, anti-bribery and broader regulatory obligations in partnership with compliance and leadership teams. Monitor legal and regulatory developments, translating change into practical business guidance. Governance, Risk & Legal Operations Support corporate governance and legal entity management activities. Manage contract governance processes, including contract repositories and signing controls. Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks, improving legal documentation, reporting and internal processes. Report key legal risks and trends to senior leadership and risk stakeholders. Candidate Requirements: Qualified Solicitor (Scotland or England & Wales), 4 years’ PQE (private practice and/or in-house). Extensive experience negotiating complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial contracts. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation. Proven ability to manage multiple high-value, cross-border legal projects simultaneously. Experienced in managing external counsel and cross-border legal matters.
