Job Description:
Our client is a global data centre services organisation, expanding their presence, and requires multiple shift engineers at a state-of-the-art data centre in Berkshire. The role involves working on a continental shift pattern (12-hour days and nights), requiring experienced multi-skilled building services or data centre engineers to perform routine and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems in a highly critical environment. These co-location sites house servers for major clients, and maintaining 100% uptime is vital.
The salary guideline is up to £45,000 basic, with opportunities for overtime and training. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market leader in a growing sector.
Must be able to pass CTC Clearance
Duties:
* Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre efficiently, including HV Electrical isolations/operations, and recommend improvements with technical reports.
* Ensure Specialist Sub Contractors adhere to approved Standard Operating Procedures.
* Perform daily emergency callout tasks.
* Complete logbooks and RAMS.
* Apply risk-focused maintenance and operate plant and systems in critical environments.
* Ensure all critical services meet client requirements.
* Provide emergency response standby, escalate issues, and respond to outages or emergencies per SLA.
* Support technical audits related to critical environments.
* Maintain records and logs demonstrating maintenance delivery.
* Supervise contractors when required.
* Conduct emergency lighting testing.
* Perform electrical work including lighting, wiring, testing, alarm systems, BMS, lighting systems, and heat exchangers.
* Demonstrate knowledge of AHU, FCU, UPS, Generators, LV systems, with fault-finding skills.
* Evaluate and escalate risks with impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring QHSE compliance.
* Support the Data Centre Shift Leader in operational delivery of planned, reactive, and project works.
Requirements:
* Trade trained with ideally 3 years’ experience in building services.
* City & Guilds Qualified Electrical Level 3.
* Good knowledge of building services.
* Ability to lead a team under pressure, remaining calm and clear, and deliver services within time constraints.
* Applicants with relevant experience but not all qualifications may be considered with Director’s approval.
* Willingness to attend on/off-site training, including nights away if needed.
