I am a lovely older lady and live with my husband in Hawick. I am looking for new carers to join my well-established team. I have MS and require support with all aspects of my personal care, meal preparation and passive exercises, as well as participating in social activities within the home and getting out and about. I use equipment for all transfers, and full training can be provided.
I have a two-week rolling rota, and the available hours are noted below. Consideration will be given to candidates who can cover as few or as many visits as possible. Ideally you will also be able to cover for other team members’ absences due to holidays, sickness, training etc.
Hours of Work
Current requirements from the two-week rolling rota – Time of each visit are set as you will be working alongside a second PA on occasion.
Week 1
* Monday – Social time 1 hour and 30 mins (currently 1.45pm to 3.15pm)
* Tuesday – 1 hour morning and 45 mins evening visit
* Wednesday – Lunch 45 mins
* Friday – 1 Hour morning
* Total = 5 hours
Week 2
* Tuesday – 1 Hour morning and 45 mins evening visit
* Friday – 1 Hour Morning
* Saturday – 45 mins evening visit
* Sunday – 45 mins evening visit
* Total = 4.25 hours
* Rate of Pay is £14.20 per hour
* Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
* Probationary period of 6 months
* Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
* Assist with daily showering and getting dressed
* Attend to any personal care requirements throughout the day, including continence and catheter care
* Undertake daily passive exercises as guided by the physios
* Administration of medication
* Preparation of all meals and drinks, and supervision whilst I consume these to reduce risk of choking
* Batch cook and freezing meals of my choice, to give me options to choose from as I wish
* Support me with social activities within the home, and out in the community
* It would be beneficial if you are a driver, to safely transport me in my mobility vehicle (if you meet the appropriate criteria and can be added to my insurance).

* You must be happy to work within a small team, as well as independently
* Driver is preferred, but not essential – I have my own vehicle
* Willingness to undertake any training requirements for this role.
Skills and Experience
Experience in the care sector preferred
For a candidate with the right personal attributes, training will be given, however, they should be able to show some suitability for the role.
