A Little About Our Wednesbury Site
Our advanced manufacturing site in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is our newest site, with around £4.7 million invested into state-of-the-art facilities. It is a flagship Added Value centre for Avara, employing over 150 people to supply the UK’s largest supermarkets and popular restaurants.
About The Role
Are you an experienced Production Manager with a proven track record in people management? Do you have experience in an FMCG environment and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing operation? We are an inclusive, forward-thinking business seeking a highly competent and motivated Production Manager to join our Site Operations Team, based at the Wednesbury site.
The role is site-based, operating in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical. The working pattern is Monday to Friday 15:30 – 00:30.
What will you be doing as a Production Manager
As a Production Manager you will be accountable for the operational output within your designated factory area to ensure KPIs, targets and business objectives are met. Depending on rotation you may be the senior responsible person on shift for all operational activities in support of agreed outputs and stock management for the shift. You will lead and develop a team of Section Managers to drive both individual and departmental performance, focusing on leadership, management and continuous improvement of Production areas and colleagues to meet and exceed customer expectations. You will meet all requirements in terms of legislation and company policy, ensuring the safety of employees, equipment, infrastructure and products.
What will your key responsibilities as a Production Manager include?
* Meeting all requirements in terms of legislation & company policy, ensuring the safety of employees, equipment, infrastructure and products.
* Line management and leadership of Section Managers within their zone in all aspects of the colleague lifecycle, coaching and mentoring for development.
* Being the Zone lead for customer visits and audits, ensuring effective planning, coordination and delivery.
* Being the Zone lead on all food safety, health & safety and quality standards adherence.
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives within your Zone and across the site, using initiative and with direction from the Senior Leadership Team.
* Chairing all SICs and providing direct feedback to the Site Manager, seeking support and escalating issues as appropriate.
* Directing activities across key functional areas to ensure the right priorities are focused on through effective resource utilization during the shift.
* Providing feedback and analysing the effectiveness of new projects, policies and procedures to senior management.
* Ensuring consistency in the application of the Company’s policies and procedures.
What you’ll need to be successful
* Experienced Section Manager or Team Leader with management experience in a similar production or manufacturing environment.
* Experience of continuous improvement in a production environment and implementing change through effective management.
* Ability to deal effectively with challenging situations.
* Proven people management skills in a diverse and demanding environment with the ability to lead and motivate the team.
* Excellent communicator at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent time management and analytical skills.
* Experience of coaching, developing and mentoring a team to reach their capabilities.
