SEND Specialist Tutor
Here at Prospero Teaching we partner with local SEND teams and Schools across the North East. We are currently on the lookout for Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students 1:1 or in small group sessions with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Spennymoor
The Opportunity
Your experience may come from previous tuition experience or experience in a classroom environment, where your skills can be transferred to a more 1:1Focused lesson. Of course, one of the main aims of the role we be to support the student in their learning, but we need tutors who can also help provide them with the stability and structure than they need to excel in their everyday lives.
Contract/Position Details:
1. Location – Spennymoor
2. Position – SEND Specialist Tutor
3. Type of work – Contract
4. Start date – ASAP
5. Setting – either within the student’s home or in the community (learning hub/library)
6. Duration – Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
7. Contract type – Temporary
8. Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student
9. Rate of pay – up to £30 per hour (negotiable)
Your role with us:
10. Support students with SEND through individual and small group sessions, developing self-confidence, independence, practical life skills, community awareness, and basic food preparation.
11. Plan and deliver bespoke learning activities that meet individual needs and close gaps in learning.
12. Assess and review learner progress on an ongoing basis, sharing clear and constructive feedback with students and their families.
13. Establish a calm, positive, and inclusive learning space that encourages engagement and restores confidence in education.
14. Record daily attendance accurately and complete structured weekly reports in line with requirements.
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
15. Children related/Education qualification
16. Possess UK classroom teaching experience
17. Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
18. Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
IND-SEN
19. Hold the right to work in the UK
20. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
21. Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
