SEND Unit - Imperial Avenue Infant School
Teacher for SEND Unit - Main Scale/UPS plus SEN Point 1 (currently £2787 per annum)
Required for academic year August/October 2026 or January 2027 for the right person
The Role
This role is an opportunity to work in a SEND unit within school; you’ll play a key role in shaping this exciting provision. The SEND Unit supports a total of 10 children from both EYFS and KS1.
As a teacher, your role will be to support high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for all students in line with their EHCP and educational targets. You will be in charge of planning and delivery of the curriculum, support and assessment, record and report on development, progress and attainment for all pupils in the unit.
Where necessary this may include supporting with care needs from time to time as well as positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child. You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school, and to promote and encourage independence, communication and interaction and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
Like many SEND environments; your duties are likely to vary and therefore candidates will need to be flexible and understand the challenges this unit may present.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high quality lessons, leading a dedicated and successful team and have high expectations for SEND children.
