Shop Volunteer – Retford, Save the Children (Guardian Jobs). This is a voluntary, unpaid role based in the UK. Candidates must be over 18. We are not able to provide visa support.
Why volunteer with Save the Children?
We are passionate about helping children in the UK and around the world. Shop volunteers support fundraising through second-hand clothing and act as advocates for children’s rights. The work helps fund our programmes and bring impact to communities.
Responsibilities
* Sort and price stock
* Engage with customers and ring items through the till
* Create window displays and keep the shop floor organized
* Support other shop activities as needed
What we look for
* Team player, open to learning and following our policies
* Willingness to represent Save the Children
* No prior retail experience required; full training will be provided
* Inclusive and representative of the local community
Commitment
It’s up to you how much you commit. Some volunteers contribute a couple of hours a week; others volunteer more. Many donate a morning or an afternoon each week. Details will be discussed at the selection stage after you apply.
What happens next?
After submitting an application, you will be invited for an informal trial shift to visit the shop, meet current volunteers, and try tasks you would support as a shop volunteer. You’ll be asked for a couple of references (not necessarily formal workplace references).
