The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrically Biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy and growing manufacturing operation.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a successful business where engineering plays a critical role in maintaining operational performance. You will be responsible for maintaining, improving and developing a wide range of automated production and packaging equipment, helping to maximise reliability, efficiency and productivity across the site.
The role offers exposure to modern automated production systems, fault finding, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Equipment You'll Support
The engineering team maintains and supports a diverse range of automated production and packaging equipment, including:
1. Automated grading and sorting equipment
2. Flow wrapping machinery
3. Robotic case packers
4. Strapping machines
5. Palletisers
6. Conveyor systems
7. Pumps and ancillary equipment
Key Responsibilities
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
8. Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across site machinery and equipment
9. Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
10. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
11. Working closely with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities
12. Assisting with machinery upgrades, installations and commissioning projects
13. Maintaining accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
14. Managing critical spare parts and sourcing replacement components
15. Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with company procedures and health and safety legislation
16. Supporting root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective actions following equipment failures
Candidate Requirements
Essential
17. Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, production, food processing or similar environment
18. Strong electrical engineering background with mechanical maintenance capability
19. PLC fault-finding and diagnostic experience
20. Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
21. Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
22. Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices
23. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a recognised engineering qualification such as:
24. Electrical Apprenticeship
25. City & Guilds
26. ONC/HNC
27. NVQ Level 3
28. 18th Edition
29. Equivalent engineering qualification
Desirable
30. Experience within food manufacturing, fresh produce, packaging or automated production environments
31. Continuous improvement experience
32. Experience working with automated production equipment and robotics
Working Hours
This role operates on a rotating shift pattern covering:
33. 07:00 - 19:00
34. 12:00 - 00:00
Occasional 09:00 - 21:00 shifts may be required during quieter operational periods.
