<div><h3>Job Description</h3><p>We are looking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated full‑time Lab manager (Senior Scientific Associate) to join the group of the late Prof. Greg Hannon. The Hannon laboratory is internationally recognised for their contributions to small RNA pathways, cancer biology and mammalian genomics. The Hannon lab is a large lab of approximately 40 individuals with ranging levels of seniority and a research administration team. The role holder would be responsible for interacting across the entire team.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead laboratory operations across the entire group to an exceptional standard.</li><li>Ensure that the laboratory runs smoothly and efficiently with support from a Research Assistant.</li><li>Monitor inventories of reagents in the lab, procurement and equipment maintenance.</li><li>Be responsible for Health and Safety processes across the lab.</li><li>Communicate across the entire research group, requiring excellent team working and communications skills (verbal and written).</li><li>Maintain a laboratory environment that is always clean, well‑organised and safe.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Experience working within an academic research laboratory.</li><li>Scientific knowledge to grasp the scientific aspects across multiple projects.</li><li>Experience working with collaborators, material transfer agreements and other contracts, as well as sending/shipping samples (highly desirable).</li><li>Outstanding interpersonal skills and a positive, flexible, and diplomatic approach to demanding situations.</li><li>Innovative, independent, and confident decision‑making with high organisational ability.</li></ul><h3>Employment details</h3><p>Temporary cover: This post is fixed‑term for 1 year or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier.</p><h3>EEO Statement</h3><p>The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
