Offer description

The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.

We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.

Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.

The role

The Disability and Neuroinclusion (D&N) team is looking to appoint an experienced administrator to work on a fixed term contract for one year in the first instance. It is an in-person role based on our Stag Hill campus. The post involves providing a full range of administrative support to the Head of Disability and Neuroinclusion Operations and the D&N team. Please note: current University of Surrey students are not eligible for this role.

D&N is the university’s support service for students. We provide a huge range of assistance for students with a diverse range of disabilities, including autism, ADHD, mental health conditions, and Specific Learning Differences. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an inclusive, friendly and progressive team. The successful candidate will be provided with appropriate training to support them in fulfilling the role.

About you

Customer service and appropriate sensitivity is all-important as the post is the first point of contact for disabled students and applicants. The post holder will need to be sensitive to, and have an awareness of, issues relating to disability and must be able to deal with students’ personal confidential data appropriately.

Expectations associated with the post include being highly organised and having the ability to support the team in the development, organisation, promotion and evaluation of various activities. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential. The ability to keep thorough, accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with departmental processes is critical to the role.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate autonomy and initiative in the arrangement of their immediate work priorities and an exceptional ability to respond to moving priorities in a busy service; additionally, to a level appropriate to the grade, when encountering problems in areas relating to their remit, the post-holder is expected to be able to propose suitable solutions.

Experience of working with disabled students in an educational setting is desirable.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
