Overview
Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal role at Vet Record Careers. This is a part-time position (20-30 hours per week). Salary up to £65,000 DOE (FTE) plus £1,500 Relocation Allowance. Excellent work/life balance and scope for flexible working (e.g., school hours). No out-of-hours work. 1-in-6 weekend rota (Saturday 4:15pm finish, Sunday 4-hour shift; weekends are covered alongside RVN and two receptionists).
Location
Congleton, large town on the East Cheshire/Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. Close to the Peak District, with easy access to Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool.
Caseload and Practice Details
* Varied small animal and exotic caseload (mainly rabbits and rodents); emphasis on preventative care through clinics (feline blood pressure, weight clinics, healthy pet and wellness screens, etc.).
* Dental care with X-ray capabilities; two-stage dental procedures with full mouth X-rays (Stage One).
* Digital radiography; ultrasound with MC and PA probes; investment in endoscopy planned.
* In-house laboratory enabling same-day test results; external OOH service provided by Vets Now Macclesfield.
Development and Practice Culture
* Career development supported by 2 certificate holders (small animal cardiology and ophthalmology), an experienced GP vet, and a developing new graduate. Feline and Rabbit Friendly practice (silver). Scope for a consulting-only role.
* 2 VetGDP Advisors and OV (operational veterinarians) within the team. Friendly, close-knit culture with low staff turnover; staff are encouraged to contribute ideas and participate in regular clinical discussions.
