We are seeking a skilled Lead Environment Artist to lead the creation of stunning visual environments for an exciting new Sci-Fi shooter project. This role involves working closely with a creative team to craft immersive worlds that enhance gameplay and set the tone for the game.
The position is based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere. We provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support for a smooth transition. While we encourage face-to-face collaboration at our Oxford HQ, we are open to discussing hybrid working options.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of environment artists, mentoring and maintaining morale.
* Manage team performance and professional development.
* Guide the creation of high-quality assets respecting technical and artistic constraints.
* Create game design documents outlining environment goals, atmospheres, and style.
* Oversee world-building, including terrains, structures, and textures.
* Assist with production estimates, scheduling, and tracking.
* Collaborate to redefine technical and artistic processes and set long-term goals.
* Coordinate with teams on photogrammetry, outsourcing, and materials.
Requirements
* Experience leading and managing an art team, nurturing talent.
* Proficiency in Blender is highly desirable; experience with 3D Studio Max or Maya is acceptable.
* Extensive knowledge of 3D sculpting with Zbrush or Mudbox.
* Skilled in modeling techniques, high-res sculpting, hard surface modeling, and PBR workflows.
* Strong understanding of lighting, composition, and visual storytelling.
* Knowledge of game development processes and pipelines.
* Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
