Job Summary
We offer a flexible approach to division of roles and responsibilities within our small friendly and experienced practice team. The clinical teams are well supported by an excellent administration and management team; this allows our GPs to concentrate on clinical work. We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced GP looking to take a leading role in improving patients outcomes, especially in areas such as diabetes, and contributing towards redesigning services locally by representing the practice at PCN and ICS level. We host various trainees (GP Specialty training Registrars, Pre Reg-Pharmacists, Nursing Associate, etc.) and are keen to recruit a GP who is willing to mentor some of our current trainees or students in the practice. You will be a team player who is keen to support and contribute to our program of continuous improvements and clinical meetings and work with us to ensure we maintain our high QOF results.

Responsibilities
The Practice Clinical Lead provides leadership and accountability in IntraHealth for the delivery of a safe, efficient, and reliable clinical service achieving the standards set out within the contract at its inception and to improve upon the quality of the service. The Practice lead may manage more than one related clinical service, or a single Practice site overseeing the clinical services running within the practice. The lead will also be expected to provide clinical services to patients registered on the practice list as set out in the Salaried GP job specification.
* Deliver Primary Medical Services via surgeries, clinics and visits as defined via the job plan.
* Make professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred internally within the organisation.
* Receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and assess their health care needs.
* Develop with the patient a care plan for health.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients to and from caseload and refer them to other care providers internally or externally as appropriate.
* Work with and support other health professionals within the team to ensure best care for patients.
* Provide clinical leadership for the delivery of the clinical service.
* Identify and implement key internal and primary processes that support the clinical service and understand how these add value to the patient.
* Appoint appropriate individuals to lead key processes; promote the IntraHealth vision of health delivery to all participants who deliver the clinical service.
* Be involved in the recruitment of good quality staff and support systems for mentoring, appraisal (including of communication skills), professional development and support.
* Continuously improve the reliability of processes within the specialty and pursue the highest quality outcomes of care.
* Maintain a patient-focused delivery of the service and promote a culture of change and innovation while eliminating wasteful activity.
* Ensure the Clinical Governance agenda is actively implemented to achieve safe clinical practice and cost effectiveness.
* Ensure National Quality Requirements and other contractual requirements are achieved; monitor performance against targets for access, triage, and clinical interventions and implement action plans for areas of non-achievement.
* Provide clinical support in the management of complaints, ensuring compliance with the complaints procedure and resolving within timescales set.
* Review staff performance, significant events and clinical incidents, patient satisfaction surveys, and ensure contingency plans and escalation procedures are effective.
* Ensure a policy for record keeping, including written and other media, and ensure transmission of information to staff in compliance with Data Protection, Access to Records and Freedom of Information.
* Mentor nurses in the practice undergoing non-medical prescribing and advanced clinical skills development; support development of clinical roles of other health care professionals to complement the GP role.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential: Knowledge of National Primary care agenda, including experience of managing professional issues and fitness to practice; experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working; leadership development; working across professional boundaries; engaging with patients and public (PPG); safeguarding policies and practices. Desirable: experience of working in different NHS sectors, within a PCN, staff development and performance management, teaching allied healthcare professionals/ GP registrars, interest in diabetes.
Qualifications
Essential: GMC registration on the GP Register with evidence of revalidation; medical degree; continued personal and professional development; indemnity cover; safeguarding training; registered on National Medical Performers list. Desirable: management qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
Skills and Abilities
Essential: Leadership and motivation, patient-centered care, relationship building, confident communication, confidentiality and data protection understanding, ability to work with stakeholders. Desirable: information governance and Caldicott duties.
