You’ll join a multi‑disciplinary team, the Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS), supporting and learning from colleagues while analysing and improving data that underpins our work. As a Technical Advisor you will fulfil a multi‑purpose role, working on our Water Quality systems and data and also supporting other systems and data as needed. You will work closely with team members and be involved in the following aspects.
Responsibilities
* Set up and manage users.
* Support users and resolve issues, especially with the new My Environment application.
* Update, improve and maintain datasets.
* Respond to internal and external data requests.
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects.

Team Overview
The Monitoring Data and Systems Team in Instrument and Systems provides support by maintaining important Environment Agency environmental monitoring systems for Water Quality, Fish, Biology, Ecology and Water Quantity. We are a friendly dispersed team of enthusiastic, caring specialists who have a passion for providing these systems and data to a wider range of internal and external customers. Experience / Skills Required
* Experience of working with large complex datasets.
* Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across our monitoring data and systems.
* Motivated, organised, friendly and helpful with an eye for detail, comfortable in a dispersed team environment.
* Proactive and enjoys solving problems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service.
Desirable Experience / Skills
* Experience of using and managing environmental monitoring data systems.
* Experience of using PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and R.
* A working knowledge of water quality monitoring.
Contact & Additional Information
Work location is flexible, but you must have a base at one of our offices across England and have a presence there. We offer hybrid home/office working but some travel is expected for meetings. Interviews will be held via MS Teams towards the end of December / beginning of January. An apprenticeship is available for the successful candidate.
