Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we are addressing our security risks and enhancing our security culture. You will serve as a role model for security, promoting a positive culture and fostering good behaviours. Your contributions will help protect the organisation from security threats that could impact our people, data, information, or physical assets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks.
2. Provide leadership and guidance on assessing and managing security risks, including our retained security responsibilities.
3. Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to ensure risks are understood, evaluated, and appropriately mitigated.
4. Ensure assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for security, EA Board, and Executive Directors.
5. Partner with Defra group Security to develop and implement security strategies, policies, and processes.
6. Lead initiatives to improve our security culture through training, communications, and engagement.
7. Facilitate governance meetings to oversee security decisions.
8. Maintain professional networks with security experts to stay informed on the latest developments.

The Team
You will join a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security unit, focused on protecting and empowering the organisation to operate effectively and resiliently. You will have access to professional security advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts at the Environment Agency.
Experience and Skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential:
* Understanding of broader influences on organisational security to enable continuous improvement.
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and motivate others.
* Ability to build effective partnerships within Defra and the Environment Agency to jointly manage risks.
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and balancing demands.
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, communication, engagement, and implementing business change is advantageous.
Additional Information

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest office in England with the option to work remotely. Some national travel may be required for meetings.
