York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) is seeking an approachable and flexible Cleaning and Catering Operative to join our team in Malton. Experience is not necessary as full training will be provided, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.
The working pattern for this role is: Monday and Wednesday, 7am-2pm, every week. Saturday and Sunday 7am-2pm one out of three weekends.
Additional hours may also be available for those who wish to work them.
Main duties of the job
The primary responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness throughout designated areas and providing catering services on the wards.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Cleaning assigned wards/areas according to work schedules, including lifting items and operating industrial cleaning machinery.
* Undertaking specialist cleaning tasks as directed by the Facilities Supervisor, Nurse in Charge, or Infection Prevention Department.
* Assisting with meal distribution to wards.
* Plating meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
* Making and serving hot drinks and refilling water jugs.
You will work independently, so the ability to prioritize and use your initiative is required. Tasks may need to be completed under time constraints, but maintaining high standards and pride in your work is essential.
Applicants should be able to read, write, and converse in English and be willing to complete relevant training in:
* Cleaning procedures
* COSSH protocols
* Infection prevention and control
* Water systems training
* Use of equipment such as ovens, dishwashers, and floor machinery
