Job Description
As part of the Direct‑to‑Consumer Decision Sciences team, the Lead Data Engineer – Data Quality will oversee data quality functions that bridge data management with operational excellence. The role requires cross‑functional collaboration with software engineering, data analytics and business stakeholders to deliver robust data quality solutions.
Responsibilities
* Lead a high‑performance team of Data Quality Engineers & Analysts.
* Design, build, test, scale and maintain in‑house and 3rd‑party data quality monitors.
* Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools for data quality monitoring.
* Deliver observable, reliable and secure data quality monitors with “you build it, you run it” mentality, focusing on automation and GitOps.
* Improve the codebase, participate in all aspects of the team, including agile ceremonies.
* Define stories and assist business stakeholders with acceptance criteria.
* Collaborate with Data Engineering Directors to share the broader technical vision.
* Champion best practices and raise the bar within the department.
* Research data anomaly detection methods, including statistical and machine learning techniques.
Qualifications
* 5+ years in Data Engineering, Software Development or Data Quality.
* Strong leadership skills, able to mentor a team of data engineers.
* Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD.
* Experience with graph‑based workflows using Apache Airflow.
* Programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or R with reusable, efficient code for automation.
* Experience processing large volumes of data using parallelism/Apache Spark.
* Experience integrating structured and unstructured data for analysis and reporting.
* Basic machine learning skills (big plus).
* Basic generative AI or NLP experience (big plus).
* Strong interest in ML / AI / Gen AI.
* Experience with large‑scale SQL.
* Understanding of data quality pillars: completeness, timeliness, validity, uniqueness, consistency, accuracy.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or equivalent industry experience.
