Care Assistant (Bank) – Hill Care
Location: Aaron Grange Care Home, Blacklow Brow
Overview
A care assistant (bank) at Hill Care is responsible for supporting residents with daily personal care, mobility and meal assistance while engaging them in social activities. The role promotes independence, dignity and person‑centred care in a safe, comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide assistance with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing and other aspects of daily living.
* Support physical, emotional and spiritual needs, maintaining dignity and comfort.
* Help residents with limited mobility or learning difficulties using relevant aids.
* Monitor confused or behaviourally challenging residents and report concerns.
* Assist continence promotion and care for residents with progressive illnesses or at end‑of‑life.
* Complete written daily records in line with company policies.
* Facilitate social activities and support hobbies.
* Answer nurse call system, doorbells, and telephone appropriately.
* Report on well‑being of residents under senior care staff guidance.
* Carry out regular checks as directed by senior staff.
* Welcome visitors, provide refreshments, and ensure a welcoming environment.
* Prepare and maintain bed, equipment and room cleanliness.
* Assist in meal assistance, including handling dietary needs and service.
* Escort residents to/out of the care home for outings, hospital visits, etc.
* Maintain integrity in handling personal and financial matters of residents.
* Help rearrange bedroom furniture and facilities using safe handling techniques.
* Participate in staff and patient meetings when required.
* Maintain professional knowledge and attend mandatory training.
* Adhere to health and safety policies, report incidents, and support safe working practices.
* Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
* Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
* Effective communication at all levels.
* Team player, willing to join vocational training programmes.
* Valid Police Check and POVA List check where applicable.
Desired Skills
* Relevant vocational qualification (achieved or working towards).
* Experience with the relevant client group.
Training & Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses on or off site.
* Participate in N/SVQ training to achieve necessary qualifications.
Health & Safety
* Report illnesses or accidents promptly to Home Manager or Person in Charge.
* Follow the care home’s Health & Safety policy and emergency procedures.
* Report faulty equipment, hazards, or damaged items.
* Promote safe working practices and maintain the care home’s reputation.
* Keep confidential information secure.
* Notify managers of inability to report for duty or absences within 2 hours of shift start.
* Maintain equipment cleanliness and safety compliance.
* Perform any other tasks reasonably assigned.
Contract & Salary
Contract Type: Full‑time
Salary: £12.60 hourly
