Teaching Assistant - Looked After Children (Behaviour Support) Location: Birmingham Contract: Full‑time, Term‑time only Start: ASAP Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to Looked After Children (LAC) with social, emotional and behavioural needs in a welcoming Birmingham primary school. This is a rewarding role where you will make a genuine difference to a child's stability, progress and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support for Looked After Children, helping them feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn. Implement strategies to de‑escalate behaviour, build emotional resilience and promote positive choices. Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and pastoral team to create tailored learning and behaviour support plans. Encourage engagement in lessons through reassurance, routine and relationship‑building. Support with social skills, emotional literacy, and therapeutic approaches used in school.
