Rate of Pay : £36.14- £48.00 per hour Summary: Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive professional to join our Compliance and Enforcement Team as a Senior Officer for a maternity cover period. This is a high-level technical role within a forward-looking council committed to maintaining the integrity of the Hampshire countryside and our thriving urban centers. You will lead on complex investigations into unauthorized developments and ensure that all building activity aligns with the Planning Acts and approved plans. This role requires a blend of technical planning expertise, investigative rigor, and the ability to negotiate resolutions in sensitive or contentious situations. Responsibilities: Lead and manage the most complex compliance and enforcement investigations regarding reported breaches of planning control. Conduct technical assessments to ensure that developments are carried out in strict accordance with approved plans and planning conditions. Prepare and serve formal notices and handle all appeal work arising from enforcement actions, including representing the Council at hearings or public inquiries if required. Use high-level negotiation skills to resolve breaches of planning control, seeking voluntary compliance where possible but taking firm action when necessary. Essentials: Significant experience and expertise in Town Planning and Planning Enforcement within a Local Authority or similar regulatory environment. Experience in handling enforcement appeals and a thorough understanding of relevant national and local planning policies. Proven track record of managing high-level, technical investigations and dealing with the legal intricacies of the Planning Acts.
