TB Community Healthcare Support Worker – Fixed Term/Secondment (12 months to cover maternity leave)
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust invites applications for a dynamic, entry‑level role within our established community TB service. The successful candidate will work alongside specialised TB nurses as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, delivering high‑quality TB care and supporting patients, their contacts and the wider community in accordance with national and local guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Receive training and perform phlebotomy for TB testing.
* Participate in large incident TB screening and screening of new entrants to the UK.
* Support patients with directly observed therapy (DOT) and assist in locating and encouraging engagement with the TB service.
* Raise local awareness of TB signs and symptoms through outreach activities.
* Arrange, monitor, report and record TB screening and treatment outcomes in line with Trust and national standards, policies and procedures.
* Provide support to the TB administration team when required.
* Advise and guide the community TB service, acting as a confidential clinical support resource.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full UK driving licence with access to a car bearing business insurance (international licences are not accepted).
* Must provide an up‑to‑date immunisation and vaccination record from a UK occupational health provider or GP.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently within a small team.
* Experience handling patients with complex and challenging needs.
* Reasonable PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and basic database use.
* Entry level; no prior TB nursing experience required.
