Lead Pharmacist Aseptic Services role at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
The unit provides a range of aseptic services and is undergoing refurbishment as part of ongoing development. The post offers leadership and management of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit in line with current legislation, Pharmacy, Trust, local and National Standards. The unit produces items for ready-to-use and named-patient dispensing and is supported by an in-house Quality Assurance/Control service as well as clinical pharmacy and clinical trials support.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Provide leadership and management of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit.
* Work with a dedicated team to improve patient outcomes and wellbeing as the lead for aseptic services.
* Contribute to the development of essential skills for leadership, governance and quality management within pharmacy.
* Act as part of a multidisciplinary team with support from an experienced Production Manager and Quality Assurance team.
* Develop and maintain a current specialism linked to the role and your development pathway (e.g., clinical, digital/technical, or quality management).
* Progression from 8a to 8b against agreed milestones where not all essential criteria are met, as per Agenda for Change Appendix 21.

Person Specification
Essential
* Qualifications: Master’s degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent; Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Desirable
* Postgraduate certificate/diploma or MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) or quality management.
Skills
* Experience of working within an aseptic unit at various levels
* Experience of managing or allocating work for a team
* Experience of implementing service improvement and change projects
* Commitment to professional updating and formal continuing professional development
Desirable Skills
* Experience in managing Clinical Trials through Aseptic Services
* Experience using the Aria e-prescribing system
* Clinical audit projects or practice research
* Experience in GMP documentation (protocols, SOPs, specifications)
* Experience in production facility design, business case development, commissioning and validation
* Experience in Radiopharmacy
* Experience in a senior pharmacy position
* Interaction with auditors during regulatory audits
Knowledge
* Quality management systems in aseptic dispensing and production facilities; GMP understanding.
* Demonstrable specialism in a related area of pharmacy.
Desirable Knowledge
* Audit processes (internal and external) understanding
* Leadership training
* Knowledge of Radiopharmacy and Health Product Regulation
Personal & Professional Attributes
* Ability to plan and meet deadlines; time management
