We havean exciting opportunity for an Advanced Mammographer in BuckinghamshireHealthcare NHS Trust to join the Breast Unit at Wycombe General Hospital. Youwill be responsible for participating in all aspects of the breast imagingservice across both screening and symptomatic settings, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. The role involvesperforming screening and symptomatic mammography, including tomosynthesis, biopsies, vacuum-assisted biopsy (VAB), vacuum-assisted excision (VAE), andlesion localisation using Magseed or RF tags. You will also support breastscreening mobile unit moves, assist with staff training, help organiseworkloads, and take responsibility for your own clinical practice and ongoingprofessional development.


Main duties of the job

As anAdvanced Mammographer, you will be responsible for supporting the strategicdevelopment of the breast imaging service and contributing to qualityimprovement initiatives through quality assurance programmes, governanceactivities, and departmental audits. You will work alongside senior colleaguesto provide leadership support and deputise as the Lead Unit Mammographer whenrequired. The role also includes supporting service delivery during extendedoperating hours, ensuring adherence to professional regulations, Trustpolicies, and clinical standards. In addition, you will actively engage in peerreview processes and contribute to maintaining a culture of safe, effective,and high-quality patient care.


Job responsibilities

* Toensure safe preparation, positioning, and coordination of patients duringadvanced breast imaging interventions, maintaining vigilance throughoutprocedures to support patient comfort and clinical safety. You will beresponsible for ensuring all required equipment and procedural setups arecompleted accurately in line with clinical requirements.
* Tosupport the delivery of specialist imaging investigations by assisting withprocedural requirements in interventional breast care, ensuring readiness ofmaterials and supporting clinicians during diagnostic and therapeuticactivities. You will contribute to maintaining smooth workflow within complexprocedural environments.
* To applyadvanced observational skills to support image acquisition decisions duringexaminations, recognising when additional imaging inputs may be required tosupport further clinical review. You will assist in ensuring imaging outputsmeet diagnostic expectations for consultant evaluation.
* Tocontribute to the coordination of departmental activity through effectiveprioritisation of tasks within a dynamic clinical setting, ensuring continuityof service delivery across varied operational demands. You will help maintainstructured workflow across different imaging functions throughout the day.
* Tosupport the integration of new and developing practices within the imagingenvironment, contributing to the adoption of updated techniques, equipmentusage, and evolving service approaches. You will help facilitate smoothimplementation of changes within the clinical setting.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* HCPC registered Radiographer.
* Qualified Mammographer holding a recognised British mammography qualification.
* Minimum 3 years experience in mammography.
* Experience in breast imaging (screening and symptomatic).
* Active engagement in CPD and professional development.
