Position
We are looking for an enthusiastic band 6 MRI radiographer to work within the fantastic MRI team at Lancashire Teaching Hospital Trust.
This dynamic job role will consist of working across 3 different sites: Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley District Hospital, and a community diagnostic centre mobile scanner. The MRI department at RPH is a bright and spacious building which provides a suite of 4 scanners including a 3T Siemens Skyra, 2 x 1.5T Philips Ingenia scanners and an Esaote Open scanner. You will join a welcoming MRI team who has continuously worked hard to receive four GOLD star ratings in recent STAR (Safety triangulation accreditation review) visits.
In this post, you will perform a diverse range of MR examinations for both adult and paediatric patients in outpatient, inpatient and emergency department settings. You will interact with a number of multi-disciplinary teams, such as the theatre team for patients undergoing MRI under anaesthetic and the pacing team, for patients with a cardiac implantable electronic device undergoing MRI.
As an MRI radiographer, you will be a key part of the imaging team, ensuring that our service user's needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care and covering 24 hour service as part of an on call commitment.
Responsibilities
* To assist in the provision of an efficient MRI service.
* To work within the MRI team to deliver the best possible care to patients whilst producing optimum quality diagnostic images.
* To be an excellent team player and work alongside other multi-disciplinary teams, communicating effectively to ensure service user satisfaction.
* To have the ability to accept responsibility and make decisions.
* To participate in departmental audits, research projects and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
* To adhere to the current MHRA guidelines along with local policies and practices to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff at all times within the MR department.
* To provide guidance and support to junior members of staff and students.
* To empathise and reassure patients who are worried, anxious or reluctant to undergo the procedure by providing thoughtful and well constructed responses to their questions.
* To participate in an on-call service and extended days.
We have 7,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area and give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire and Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients and staff, ensuring we keep thriving and delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll learn new skills, meet new people and do things you’d never have done before. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills and enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold and help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something you can be proud of.
