The Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our school at Newtown / Oswestry Campus. You will need to be flexible and adaptable, able to work as part of a team and be willing to become involved in whole school activities. Knowledge of strategies to support autistic learners would be advantageous. You should have good IT and communication skills and work proactively to build positive relationships with all stakeholders, assisting in delivering engaging lessons across year groups that challenge and stretch students academically.
The Campus
The OneSchool Global Newtown Campus, located 27 miles west of Shrewsbury in the village of Sarn near Newtown, is moving to a new flagship Campus in what used to be the Henlle Golf Club, Gobowen near Oswestry in January 2026. The new 18-acre site will feature an integrated education technology environment to support future-focused learning, with vibrant teaching areas and strong staff resources and wellbeing facilities.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain excellent standards of student attainment and achievement.
* Support the delivery of Self-Directed Learning (SDL) and high-quality teaching and learning.
* Deliver interventions for students on ALN & MAT registers and support the LSCO and Regional Senco in assessing students.
* Work toward pupils’ individualised targets set out within EHCP and ILP, in liaison with the class teacher and Learning Support Co-ordinator (LSCO).
* Provide learning support in class or withdrawal settings, 1:1 or in small groups.
* Monitor MAP skills interventions and track progress, reporting to relevant stakeholders.
* Develop knowledge of pupils’ needs and seek advice from LSCO, class teacher and outside agencies as directed.
* Assist access to a full range of learning experiences, modify materials as required (e.g., worksheets, games, visual prompts).
* Create or adapt resources as advised by LSCO, Educational Psychologist or other agencies.
* Assist in planning and preparation of day-to-day class activities.
* Provide breaktime and lunchtime supervision as directed.
* Maintain an inclusive learning environment inside and outside the classroom.
* Motivate and encourage pupils to participate in activities, including those they may be unsure of.
* Facilitate inclusion in small group activities and support interaction.
* Attend in-service training and relevant meetings to stay up to date with safeguarding and SEN developments.
