The Post:
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role as part of NHS Scotland. NHS National Services Scotland’s mission is to enable and support the delivery of better care working in partnership. We do this by providing a range of specialized support services that enable NHS boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care.

This post is based at the Gartnavel Campus in Glasgow within the SNBTS Glasgow HUB which provides blood products for hospitals in the West of Scotland. This is a non-patient facing role which requires excellent communication skills and customer service. The main duties of this role include provision of blood components to hospital blood banks, stock management and general laboratory-based tasks.

The Candidate:
This post provides a challenging role for a motivated individual to be able to work in a busy and changing environment. The post requires team working and excellent interpersonal skills and you will be required to work flexibly to meet the SNBTS corporate objectives. SNBTS Patient Services provide support to clinical and hospital services 24 hours, 7 days a week. Staff working in identified areas / departments, will participate in departmental shifts to support these services.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:
West of Scotland Blood Transfusion Centre.

The full-time 1.0 WTE contract is for a 37-hour working week. The part-time 0.5 WTE contract is for an 18.5-hour working week. Both roles have a work pattern that involves 12 hours shifts over 7 days. These are both nightshifts and dayshifts. Candidates must advise within their application which role (1 WTE or 0.5 WTE) they are applying for.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
