Crawley
CFI MEDIA
Development manager

Offer description

Overview

CFI MEDIA is a social enterprise with a mission to open doors for young people into the film industry. Through CFI Academy, we’ve built programmes like our Saturday Film & Screen Club and Meet Your Filmmaker initiative, giving young people the chance to gain skills, confidence, and pathways into employment in film and screen.

Over the past 5 years, we’ve grown our impact — now we’re looking for a passionate and driven Community Development & Partnerships Manager to take our Academy work to the next level.

The Role

This is a freelance, contract-based role for someone who believes in our mission and sees the potential of growing community filmmaking in Crawley and beyond. Your main focus will be developing strong local partnerships, raising finance through grants, sponsorships, and events, and helping us build sustainable community programmes.

Your salary will grow depending on the success of your work (e.g. securing grants, building partnerships, generating income from events). You’ll set goals with our Directors, report progress back to both Directors and stakeholders, and in time, help grow a small team to deliver projects.

What You’ll Do

* Identify and apply for grants and funding for core costs and projects.
* Build partnerships with local organisations, sponsors, and funders.
* Design and deliver events that support our mission — from free community screenings to income-generating programmes.
* Spot community needs and trends, and shape projects to fit both those needs and potential funding briefs.
* Represent CFI MEDIA in the local community and across the South East, raising awareness of our mission.
* Work with Directors to set targets and measure impact, ensuring our community work grows sustainably.

What We’re Looking For

* Strong interpersonal skills — a natural networker who can build relationships and inspire trust.
* Excellent copywriting skills, especially for grant writing and partnership proposals.
* Experience in fundraising, community engagement, or partnership development (or a clear passion and transferable skills to bring into this space).
* Strategic and adaptable — able to shape projects to meet both community needs and funder priorities.
* Passionate about empowering young people and building pathways into the film industry.

Why Join Us

This is not just another role. It’s a chance to be part of a grassroots mission, shaping the future of young people in Crawley and the South East. You’ll have the freedom to make a real impact, grow your role (and your salary) based on your success, and help us build something lasting for the community.

If you’re someone who thrives on building connections, unlocking opportunities, and driving meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you.
