Overview
Housing Options Officer – Grade 6, £33,699 up to £38,220 per annum pro rata plus standby and call out payments. 18.5 hours per week / 37 hours over two weeks, 12 month fixed term contract. Suggested working pattern (negotiable).

Week 1: AM 3.5 hours; AM 4 hours; Non working day; AM 3.5 hours; AM 4 hours
Week 2: AM 4 hours; AM 3.5 hours; AM 3.5 hours; AM 4 hours; 7.5 hours (duty day).
Responsibilities
* Provide professional advice on housing options to potentially homeless customers, with an emphasis on preventing homelessness.
* Carry out interviews and home visits; liaise with other agencies; negotiate and monitor personal housing plans.
* Arrange temporary or permanent accommodation for customers facing homelessness.
* Apply relevant housing and homelessness legislation and use a range of tools to inform responsible decisions.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Proven experience dealing with customers in a busy front-line service; strong negotiation skills and ability to handle challenging situations.
* Working knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, welfare benefit reforms, rent arrears procedures, and private sector issues.
* Ability to manage a large and complex workload; driving licence/Use of a car is required; able to participate in a 24-hour out-of-hours rota.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working model with a mix of office-based, home, and remote working where suitable. The contractual base will be office-based with flexibility to work from home or remote locations in the borough.
