Job summary
UKSV is embarking on a significant programme of activity under the Vetting Transformation Programme that will include business, data, technology and people change and a portfolio of projects. As a Project Support Officer you will enable this change through a diverse range of activities that support the smooth running of the project(s) by supporting the project manager(s) and workstream leads in the operation of project management processes, and the coordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.
Job description
Duties and responsibilities will include and are not limited to the following:
1. Planning and scheduling - Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling of project activities.
2. Monitoring and reporting - Establish and maintain project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status. Prepare project performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information as appropriate.�
3. Timely and accurate administration - Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently on behalf of the Project Manager and/or workstream leads including coordinating and facilitating workshops and events as required. Manage and monitor compliance with relevant business processes and business rules.��
4. Stakeholder Management - Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Draft and sign-off correspondence and briefing materials as appropriate.�
5. Financial control - Monitor project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case.�
6. Risks and issues - Manage potential risk areas, working with the risk management function, project managers and workstream leads and escalating as appropriate.
Person specification
As a Project Support Officer within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:
7. The ability to engage with a range of stakeholders using influence where appropriate.
8. Knowledge of governance and risk management methodologies relevant to project management.
9. The ability to delivery at pace to tight deadlines and in the context of changing priorities or circumstances.
Essential Experience
10. Experience of supporting the planning of project(s), scope, deliverables, timescales, resource requirements, and budget.
11. Experience supporting project or other complex administrative processes including scheduling activities, taking into account dependencies and resource availability.
Desirable Experience
12. Experience of digital programmes.
13. Project Management Qualification (, Prince 2 or APM).
Additional information:
A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.

This role will be based in either York, Glasgow or Manchester. UKSV operates a hybrid working policy. There is flexibility to split your working week but with a minimum requirement of 60% in the listed Cabinet Office Hubs.
