The Weymouth ICRT are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work within the Multidisciplinary team. The team consists of OT’s, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Advanced Practitioners, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Rehab Assistants and admin support who work together to provide intermediate care and rehabilitation to the adult population of Weymouth and Portland.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide OT‑based rehabilitation for a range of physical presentations such as stroke, neurology, orthopaedics, frailty, falls and cognitive impairment.
* Conduct cognitive assessments and holistically assess and formulate patient‑centred rehabilitation programmes.
* Use a range of equipment and expertise in moving and handling.
* Support a 7‑day admission‑avoidance service for patients in their own homes, recognising and managing deteriorating patients, crisis management and basic physical assessment.
* Work on a rota basis across the 7 days, covering duty until 18.00 when required.
* Supervise junior colleagues and contribute to service development through problem solving and innovative thinking.
* Maintain caseload management, communicate effectively and work autonomously.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant experience.
* Knowledge and experience in moving and handling, use of a range of equipment, and carrying out cognitive assessments.
* Experience working with the older person, particularly with frailty.
* Ability to recognise and manage deteriorating patients; crisis management skills.
* Strong communication, organisational and caseload‑management skills.
* Experience supervising junior staff and working autonomously.
* Innovative thinking to inform service development.
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (cost covered by the Trust). Applicants with a DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate.
* Applicants requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible for this position.
