Job Description
This role is field-based, and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
Overview
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, effectively manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and use customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance with patient-centered focus and in compliance with AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
* Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
* Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections and close on sales calls.
* Aspire to serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted customer relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
* Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
* Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
* Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
* Equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, with three (3) or more years in relevant roles; high school diploma/GED required
* Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style; provides innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities
* Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected resource among peers; builds collaborative partnerships and leads by example
* Documented success in leadership and support roles with increased responsibility; uses findings to develop sales strategies
* Preferred: proven track record in sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written)
* Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials
* Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and operates effectively in a matrix environment
* Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive as required
Key Stakeholders
External: Specialty Physicians in therapeutic brand area, pharmacists, nurses, and others depending on brand plan. Internal: In-field team members, Sales Management, Marketing Management, Training, Customer Excellence, and Brand Plan stakeholders.
