Are you a qualified solicitor looking to specialise in utility land rights? Want to play a key role in one of the UK’s most high-profile infrastructure programmes while enjoying genuine work-life balance? Total package: £55,687.20 to £65,514 Salary: £46,406 – £54,595 per annum (depending on experience) Plus: 20% guaranteed benefits fund paid on top of base salary Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – 3 days in office per week) Closing date: 24 November 2025 This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, specialist legal team in Birmingham as a Property Counsel, focusing on non-contentious property work within the utilities sector. You’ll take the lead on drafting and negotiating easements, leases, and land rights agreements with major utility and telecom operators, supporting the delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure project. The team is collaborative and well-established, offering direct access to senior mentoring and a positive, supportive working environment. Unlike private practice, there’s no time recording, no internal billing, and a genuine emphasis on predictable hours and balance. Essential Requirements Qualified solicitor (NQ), ideally with experience in property law Background in utilities or telecoms – either in-house or in private practice Strong understanding of land rights, easements, and lease agreements Confident negotiating with regulated businesses and external stakeholders Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and as part of a close-knit team Nice to Have Experience working in or alongside local government, utilities, or large infrastructure projects Previous involvement in land acquisition or utility diversion work Familiarity with property law in a major infrastructure context This newly created position offers a rare blend of meaningful work, professional development, and excellent work-life balance.
