This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in establishing Birmingham as one of the UK's foremost Nature Cities.
As the UK's first accredited Nature City, Birmingham is delivering its ambitious City of Nature 25-Year Plan, placing nature recovery, biodiversity enhancement and environmental resilience at the heart of the city's future. Created to support the city's Nature City designation, deliver the City of Nature Plan and implement new Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) responsibilities, this role sits at the forefront of urban nature recovery.
The post will lead on the designation of sites as Biodiversity Net Gain receptor sites, help establish Birmingham as a registered provider of BNG credits, and secure investment in the city's natural environment. In addition, you will be responsible for the management of the Council's Conservation and Woodland Management Team, overseeing the delivery of practical habitat creation, woodland management and biodiversity improvement projects across Birmingham's parks, green spaces and nature reserves.
