We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systemic Anti-cancer therapies (SACT) Registered Nurse to come and work within Cancer services to support the delivery of exciting new research therapies and to provide expert knowledge around SACT within an outpatient setting. This post will involve working closely with the Cancer Research delivery team to understand the needs and requirements of each trial, providing education to colleagues within Cancer services and ensuring all research tasks related to the administration of trial drugs are completed to a high standard. When not administering research treatments the successful candidate will help provide a high standard of care to non-trial Cancer patients whilst supporting the safe administration of Systemic Anti-cancer therapies (SACT) within the Chemotherapy Day unit at Singleton hospital.
You will have the opportunity to develop your skills specifically caring for patients with a cancer diagnosis within a research setting and you will be required to inform and educate patients on the prescribed treatment and its side effects, providing support to patients and their carers on all aspects of their care. Full research specific training will be provided. This post will involve you working collaboratively with the Cancer research delivery team to ensure trial SACT is administered to the highest standard and according to trial protocols.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced SACT trained nurse who has an interest in working with the Cancer Research delivery team to support the administration of trial treatments to our Oncology patients. The post holder would be based within the Chemotherapy day unit, working 3 days per week. You will provide leadership and expert knowledge regarding study protocols and their treatments and be part of a team responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of patient care receiving SACT. You will be working closely with other professional colleagues ensuring high standards of care and work closely with the Cancer research delivery team to ensure trial treatments are administered according to Good Clinical Practice and study protocols. The post holder will be expected to provide clinical advice, training, education and support to patients, relatives and colleagues related to SACT and clinical trials. This is an exciting new role as a SACT Research Clinical Nurse specialist nurse to support the delivery of new research therapies within the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Singleton Hospital working collaboratively with the Cancer research delivery team.
